About Us

The Association of Legal Administrators (ALA) was formed in 1971 to provide support to professionals involved in the management of law firms, corporate legal departments and governmental legal agencies. ALA provides educational opportunities and services to members in 21 countries. ALA is structured into six regions with more than 100 chapters in the United States, Puerto Rico, Canada and New Zealand.

The Buffalo Chapter of the Association of Legal Administrators was chartered May 4, 1989, and today has over 30 members representing private law firms, government agencies and corporate legal departments throughout the city and immediate area surrounding Buffalo, New York.

The Buffalo Chapter of the Association of Legal Administrators (ALA) provides opportunities for professional and personal growth for all legal administrators. The Buffalo Chapter of the ALA is a non-profit educational organization serving administrative professionals from private law firms and corporate legal departments in the Buffalo legal community. Through education and networking, Firm Administrators, Legal Managers or Functional Specialists can enhance their careers as well as profession.

Membership in the Association of Legal Administrators (ALA) is a prerequisite of membership in the Buffalo Chapter of the Association of Legal Administrators.  Local chapter members take advantage of the numerous membership services and programs offered by the ALA.

Our regular meetings are the 3rd Tuesday of every month beginning in September and ending in May. The Board of Directors continue to meet throughout the summer months on the 1st Tuesday of every month. At our regular meetings we enjoy a variety of educational experiences in order to enhance the professional and personal growth of our members. Some of the events include educational speakers and roundtable discussions.

In addition, ALA National presents monthly teleseminars on various topics of legal management.  Our chapter will cover the cost of the course, if we have three interested members and a location to host it.

In June, the Chapter sponsors an event to show our appreciation to our many Business Partners who support our organization throughout the year.  Each year we look for new ideas for this event.
